Sleep Sack for Ella Jean

I spent the day today organizing digital pictures from the Holiday.  It seems like a huge waste of time after a few hours of work and then looking to see how much there is left to do.  It has been a goal of mine for some time to figure out a system.  I am yet to find one that I can stick to and is "simple."  So, if anyone has an idea or a system they use, email me and share it : )

Onto last nights sewing project...

It seems that everyone I know is have a baby these days.  So let the gift sewing begin!  I love making baby gifts, and I really like making baby girl gifts.  This one was very time consuming, but I am pleased with the outcome, so it was worth it.  Not to mention the person that is receiving it totally deserves something new and girly.  She has two boys already and didn't find out she was having a girl until delivery day, so I assume she doesn't have much for the new addition.  I can't wait to see Miss Ella Jean in this little sleep sack.

        

I didn't have a baby to model it. I thought of sticking Alaire in it, but I couldn't disturb her and little Belle on the doggie daybed that she thinks is a mini couch.

Birthday Suit

My daughter, Alaire turned one a few days after Christmas. I cannot believe she is already one. I know everyone says that but it is so true, that the time flies. She was my test run of an outfit I have been meaning to put into my shop, a birthday suit! Here are some pictures of her in her "Birthday Suit". Please don't be disturbed our families live 500 and 800 miles away and we had two parties for her at each house. (I know I know SPOILED ROTTEN!!!) Oh well it was fun and she actually wore the outfit more than once, which isn't always the case!

 

I will be accepting orders for girls and boys and there will be ready to ship outfits in my shop soon!

Happy New Year

I hope everyone is having a great Holiday Season.  My husband, daughter and I have been traveling the Mid-West visiting family and friends since December 17th.  We arrive home to begin laundry and reality in a little less than a week.  We have been having a lot of fun, but I am excited to begin the New Year as well.  I am planning to do a lot more exciting things with my blog and my Bumble Baybees business as a whole.  I hope to have more posts and more tutorials throughout the year.

I am alive and well.  I have been sewing and crafting up a storm, which I plan on sharing with all of you.  I haven't had internet on anything but my phone for a few weeks.  BOTH of our computers have a virus : )  So guess what is the top thing on my Santa list... Yes a computer!  Can't wait.  I will post as soon as we start traveling(we are going on an 18 day mid-west family road trip to visit our families) and I start borrowing computers from my family!  Hope you are enjoying December!  See you soon!

Birthday Kitchen

My daughter, Alaire, turns one on December 27th.  The day we found out she was due on Christmas Day, everyone that knew said, "Oh... now she won't get her own birthday."  Me being me decided that I would not mesh her birthday and Christmas together.  We will make her feel special every year and keep the two separate.  We also decided one present for Christmas from the two of us, one present from Santa, and one for her birthday.  (It is wayyyyy to easy to over shop for little girls who love dolls and books and ..... you get it!)


Of course I love handmade gifts, and I want to give my children as many of them as I can.  But, it always seems that I am making presents and orders for other kids and the things I want to do for my own gets pushed back.  I am sure many others feel the same way! 

That being said.  I told myself that I wanted to make her something special for her birthday.  She is a little young to completely understand, but I wanted to get her a kitchen set.  I googled them, shopped around, searched and searched and searched.  No offense, but what I found was that I wanted a nicer, more durable, cuter, more custom, sturdy, wooded kitchen set that was affordable.  Of course you-know-who (Pottery Barn) has a beautiful set.  It just costs as much as a trip to Disney : ) (Okay I am exaggerating... well not really!)

So my solution is.... ANA-WHITE.com.  You don't know her?? Well you better check out her sight.  She is soooo amazing.  I can go on and on for days about her.  She has given me so many ideas and of course projects to put on my list.  She has the plans to build a little kitchen set, and the best part is she is giving them to her readers for FREE!!!

Mothers of boys always say that it is sooo fun to sew for and dress girls.  Being that I am a mother with a daughter, they are right.  I don't have any little boys, but everyone I know does, and this Dino Hoodie is one of the fun things to make and dress boys in!  This one is shipping out tomorrow morning to a two year old I know, who loves dinosaurs of course!

Busy Busy Busy Busy, There's so much to do!

Busy, Busy, Busy, Busy, Busy, there's so much to do!... Does anyone else have that activity table for their little ones that sings that little song???... No? haha nevermind!


I have been very busy, but I haven't finished a lot! Do you know how I feel? You are working working working and then you look around to a handful of projects that just need the "finishing touches", which always seems to take the longest.  I will post what I have been working on as soon as these "touches" happen! 

Here is one thing I did finish. It is a Dick and Jane quilt for a "Ga Ga Giveaway" at the Oh Baby Expo this weekend!

Crazy Soda Cakes

There is a woman in a mothers group I belong to who brings cupcakes in each month for birthdays.  She introduced me to the easiest way to make cupcakes in the world.
So here is what you need: cake mix and a can of soda (not joking... THAT.IS.IT.) 

You mix them together and bake as directed. 

I know it isn't hard to put oil, water and eggs into the cake mix, but why dirty the extra dishes??  Better yet, why think?  Everytime I make a box of anything I have to double and triple check everything.. 1/2 cup right?... wait  is it a 1/3 cup??

Let me tell you that the batter is probably the best part.  It is so creamy and thick, and it doesn't have raw eggs, so eat away.  The cake itself turns out spongey.  It isn't quite like cake and it isn't quite like a brownie.  You will see for yourself when you make it.

Anyway, I know you are wondering what kind of soda?  ANY KIND!!!  You can use diet, regular, store brand, name brand, you choose! 

I would suggest using dark pop with dark mix and light pop with light mix.  You could also use grape or strawberry pop with vanilla cake mix for the kids.   I made Coke with Devil's Food cake mix.
